The latest edition of Aerial St. Pete shows the progress on several downtown high-rise developments.  Aerial St. Pete is a column by St. Pete Rising which features exclusive aerial photography of projects under construction in St. Petersburg, FL. To accomplish this, we have teamed up with Anthony Bove at AB3 Visuals.

In this article we are taking a look at five projects in downtown St. Pete which are in various stages of construction. Some are in the demolition stage while other are topped out and closer to completion. These projects include: 334 Apartments, Residences at 400 Central, Ascent St. Petersburg, Saltaire, and Orange Station. We look forward to following these projects as they grow closer to completion.

334 Apartments
334 2nd Avenue South

334 St. Pete Residences is a 24-story apartment building being developed by Miami-based American Land Ventures at 334 2nd Avenue South. The building has topped out at 250 feet and will feature 220 upscale apartments and over 14,000 square feet of retail space. Parking for the property will be provided by an adjoining seven floor parking garage with 295 spaces.

The project broke ground in March 2021 and construction is expected in late 2022. Coastal Construction serves as the project’s general contractor and tower crane is still on site facilitating construction. American Land Ventures previously built AER Apartments, now known as Camden Pier District, which was completed in 2016.

Residences at 400 Central
400 Central Avenue

The Residences at 400 Central is a 46-story condominium tower under development at 400 Central Avenue. The project is being developed by New York-based Red Apple Group and will feature 301 condominium units ranging from 1,277 to 5,600 square feet.

The 515-foot tower will also contain over 60,000 square feet of retail and office space along with a structured parking garage. The building will also have an exclusive 46th floor Sky Lounge Observatory offering panoramic views of Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

A ceremonial ground breaking ceremony was held in late 2021 and ground work is underway. Completion is expected in 2024.

Ascent St. Petersburg

Ascent St. Petersburg is a mixed-use project being developed by Greystar Real Estate Partners at 225 1st Avenue North. The $170 million project will top out at 357-feet and will contain 354 market-rate rental units along with a 172-key AC Hotel by Marriott hotel.

The 36-story building will also have 8,200 square feet of ground floor retail space. Additionally, the hotel will feature a rooftop bar on the eighth floor and the residential building will feature a roof deck on the 36th floor.

The project broke ground in early 2021 and is expected to top out in the next few months. Greystar is also the general contractor for the project. The AC Hotel by Marriott is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2022 while the rental units will deliver in early 2023.

Orange Station is a highly anticipated mixed-use project at 1300 1st Avenue North, the site of the former St Pete Police Department headquarters, in St. Pete’s EDGE District. The project features an ambitious but thoughtfully designed blend of office, retail, and residential.

The residential components include a 42-unit workforce apartment building named The WYE, paying homage to the triangular junction often found in railroads, and a 61-unit luxury condominium building named The Residences at Orange Station.

Demolition of the existing structures on the site is underway and construction is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2022. Completion is expected in 2024.
