Rumba Island Bar and Grill has finally opened on 4th Street in St. Pete
More than three years after St. Pete Rising broke the news that Rumba Island Bar and Grill would be opening in the Sunshine City, the restaurant has finally debuted on 4th Street North.
The new 5,300 square foot laid-back island eatery is located at 6445 4th Street North, formerly home to a WingHouse Bar & Grill.
Rumba, which has another location in Clearwater, gives diners a taste of the islands in a relaxing tropical atmosphere. Menu items include favorites like the Island-Style Quesadillas and Seared Tuna Nachos for starters and the Jerk Chicken Rice Bowl, the Freshest Grouper Sandwich, and Rasta Pasta with sautéed shrimp, scallops, and mussels for an entree.
Wash it all down with one of Rumba’s 12 signature cocktails, such as a Fresh Berry Mule, Rumba Runner, or the Mangotini, made with New Amsterdam mango vodka, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice. Seltzers, beer, and wine are also available.
Rumba Island Bar and Grill is the latest addition to the Indian Shores-based Baystar Restaurant Group, which is led by Frank Chivas. Chivas has been operating restaurants in Pinellas County for over 20 years, including long-time institutions like Salt Rock Grill and Island Way Grill.
Most of Baystar’s 10 restaurants feature menus dominated by fresh seafood, much of which is provided by Chivas’ own fleet of dayboats. According to Baystar’s website, “Our fishermen dock at Salt Rock Grill, at our own processing facility, and filet and ship 100s of pounds of fresh fish daily to all Baystar restaurants.”
Rumba Island Bar and Grill is now open at 6445 4th Street North from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Thursday, 11:30 am to 10:00 pm on Friday, 10:30 am to 10:00 pm on Saturday, and 10:30 am to 9:00 pm on Sunday.
