Big changes are coming to one of Beach Drive’s most prominent restaurants. 400 Beach Seafood and Tap House is about to embark on a top-to-bottom renovation that is sure to enhance the dining experience for its patrons.

Starting on June 12th, the 8,200-square-foot restaurant will close for an estimated six months to undergo the extensive makeover.

“We are excited to be renovating and reimagining our dining space at 400 Beach Seafood and Tap House,” said owners Shawn and Jeanna Damkoehler in a release. “We know the restaurant has been a staple on Beach Drive for over 10 years and we are looking forward to many more years of creating memories with our guests.”

400 Beach is known for their Nouveau American menu featuring coastal cuisine, everything from steaks to seafood, using thoughtful and approachable ingredients with a strong focus on local farmers and ranchers.

During the closure, the renovation team will be meticulously refurbishing the interior space, enhancing the ambiance with a fresh, contemporary design that harmoniously blends sophistication and comfort.

Additionally, the culinary team at 400 Beach Seafood and Tap House will be developing an all-new, innovative menu highlighting locally sourced ingredients.

Volet Hospitality bought the popular Beach Drive restaurant two years ago in partnership with philanthropists Shawn and Jeanna Damkoehler. The previous owner, St. Pete restauranteur Steve Westphal, owned 400 Beach for 12 years.

Volet Hospitality also purchased Alto Mare and Annata Wine Bar, located one block away from 400 Beach, in December 2020. The original plan was to combine the two Beach Drive restaurants into a larger version of Annata, but plans changed throughout the process. A little over a year after closing the two eateries, the hospitality company debuted Allelo, a Mediterranean restaurant, at 300 Beach Dr NE #128.

“400 Beach Seafood and Tap House sincerely appreciates the support and understanding of its loyal customers during this brief closure period,” the release says. “The team looks forward to welcoming guests back to an enhanced dining experience that showcases the very best of what Beach Drive has to offer.”
