8-unit townhome community planned for 14th Street in downtown St. Pete

Local developer Jeff Craft with Tampa Bay City Living has cleared multiple parcels near St. Pete's EDGE District for his latest project - a new upscale townhome community. 

Amid a spur of new developments breaking ground on the 14th Street corridor, Craft plans to build an eight-unit townhome complex at 364 14th Street North

"This is what we do - we follow certain developments trends happening in these pocket areas and build townhomes speculatively," Craft said to St. Pete Rising

Craft, who resides in the Crescent Heights neighborhood with his wife, has developed over 700 townhomes in Tampa Bay, including the newly built townhome community, The District on 9th.

Craft said the Tampa Bay City Living team has been observing projects take shape in the area such as Alante, a neighboring 26-unit townhome community developed by Onyx+East at 302 15th Street North.

"The 14th Street site is in this unique area where you aren't in the downtown core, but you are still within walking distance to Central Avenue," said Craft, who purchased the three parcels in phases over the past two years.   

He also mentioned the draw and appeal of the 15th Street EcoFarm, a half-acre community garden located a block away that will be adding a full commercial kitchen and event space.

Each 2,400-square-foot, three-bedroom unit will have an expansive rooftop deck on the fourth floor. 

"Many developers have townhomes with rooftop terraces, but they lack and indoor/outdoor experience," Craft said. "We've designed ours like a second living room, and it's partially covered so residents can have seating, a TV, and a wet bar." 

The units will have spacious two-car garages with optional electric vehicle charging capabilities. 

Pricing will start in the $900,000s, which Craft said is comparable to the new surrounding residential properties coming online.  

While the townhome community will not have a clubhouse and other amenities, there will be lush landscaping and green space onsite.

Craft has received permitting approval from the city to commence work on the future townhome community, which has yet to be named, in two to four weeks and complete the project in 12 months.

St. Petersburg-based general contractor Shell Basix and local engineering firm Baysite Engineering will be helping bring the project to life. Stridis Renderings completed the visual renderings of the development.

Craft and his team are also developing a 23-unit luxury townhome community at the site of the former Greyhound Station at 180 and 200 Martin Luther King Jr. Street North.
