Get ready to raise a pint of Guinness, St. Pete—there’s a new Irish party bar in town.

Dublin Drop opens today at 6 p.m. at 129 1st Avenue North in downtown St. Pete.

The new bar is from Michael Jennings of The Drink St. Pete Group, the team behind other popular downtown bars, such as One Night Stand, Tequila Daisy, Whiskey Exchange, and Pour Judgement.

Although the 3,000-square-foot bar will feature Irish beers and whiskies, Jennings doesn’t consider it a traditional Irish pub.

“It’s a party bar,” said Jennings. “We won’t serve Irish food or play Irish music. Think more along the lines of Irish Kevin’s in Key West.”

The main bar, which seats 20 people, runs along the left wall, complete with plenty of TVs and five Guinness stations to ensure there's never a long wait for the classic Irish stout.

A small stage will host DJs and live music of all genres on weekends. Plus, another bar on the right side of the space will help alleviate crowds during peak hours.

Jennings envisions a lively atmosphere for both sports fans and whiskey lovers, where people can cheer for their teams and encourage friends to stick around for another round.

The drink menu features 16 variations of the Dublin Drop, a more playful take on the traditional Irish Car Bomb, made by dropping a shot of Baileys Irish Cream and Jameson Irish Whiskey into a half-pint of Guinness.

Some of the unique "drops" include the Bailey Bomber (Guinness, Kahlua, Grand Marnier, and Baileys), the High King of Ireland (Guinness, Bushmills Black Irish Whiskey, and Baileys Salted Caramel), and the Florida Man in Dublin (Guinness, Jameson Orange, and Baileys).

For those in the mood for something more classic, the “Tipples” menu offers options like The Dubliner (Irish whiskey, orange curaçao, sweet vermouth, and orange bitters) and the Irish Buck (gin, fresh lime juice, and ginger beer).

Of course, no Irish party bar would be complete without plenty of Irish beer on tap. Dublin Drop will serve Guinness, Harp, Smithwick’s, as well as Coors and Stella Artois.

“Drops” and cocktails are priced around $10.

“We want to keep it affordable,” said Jennings. “Everything will be reasonably priced.”

As for food, Dublin Drop serves menu offerings from the neighboring sports bar, Who’s on First, also owned by Jennings.

This week, Dublin Drop is open from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. Normal hours, which begin next week, are 12 p.m. to 3 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. on the weekends.
