Southern fast-food chain Cook Out will bring its char-grilled burgers and milkshakes to 4th Street in north St. Petersburg.

An entity connected to Jeremy Reaves, CEO and son of the chain's founder, purchased a property at 9595 4th Street North for $2.6 million, according to a deed of sale filed with Pinellas County on Tuesday. The restaurant will be the first Cook Out location in Pinellas County.

The site was previously home to a 3,146-square-foot Boston Market restaurant, which closed in 2023, and is across from Baypoint Commerce Center.

The purchase comes after the chain recently confirmed it will open its first Tampa Bay locations at 5501 East Fowler Avenue in Temple Terrace and 16215 North Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa. Both Hillsborough County locations are also replacing former Boston Market restaurants.

The St. Petersburg Cook Out location is not yet listed on the company’s website and an opening date has not been announced.

Founded in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 1989, Cook Out started expanding outside the state in 2010 and now has over 300 locations across the southeastern United States.

In addition to the burgers and shakes, the late-night drive-thru chain offers barbeque plates, hot dogs, corn dogs, fries, onion rings, hushpuppies, chicken strips, and desserts such as coke floats, and more.

The operating hours of the existing locations vary, but they are generally open from 10:30 a.m. to 3 a.m., 4 a.m., or 5 a.m.
