Pour & Decor brings coffee and home decor together this winter in the Grand Central District
St. Petersburg has no shortage of coffee shops, but a new one opening at 2210 Central Avenue, in the heart of the Grand Central District, offers java with a twist.
Pour and Decor, owned by Gabrielle Cuccaro, is one part coffee shop and one part home decor boutique, with a small art and furniture gallery located in the back. She hopes to have the store open within the next couple of months, “preferably by the end of the year,” she said.
Cuccaro is a St. Pete native born and raised, whose parents own the popular Mazzaro’s Italian Market at 2909 22nd Avenue North. As a teenager, she worked at Mazzaro’s as well as three local retail boutiques but developed a desire to start her own business.
“When I was around 16 years old, I had this idea that I wanted to open a coffee shop,” Cuccaro said in an interview with St. Pete Rising.
“I noticed that we have restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques galore, but we didn’t have many fun gift and home decor shops downtown.”
According to Cuccaro, the “decor” side of Pour and Decor will offer a wide selection of gifts for both men and women including wedding, birthday, showers, and seasonal items.
“We will also feature tabletop decor, glassware, candles, coffee table books, and other home and lifestyle products.” She aims to stock items in a wide range of price points. “Anyone who walks in should be able to find some something.” says Cuccaro.
Pour and Decor has also partnered with Michael Mastry, the owner and principal designer at St. Pete-based Haven Home Design Center. Mastry, Cuccaro said, will have a small design studio in the back of the space.
“Haven Design Center is proud to be launching a dedicated art gallery and secondary showroom location within the Pour and Decor building,” Mastry said. “The focus of Haven Design’s second location will be to showcase some of their favorite art pieces while also displaying their new express division’s quick ship room package furnishings. Together, these businesses will create a new experiential destination location in the heart of the thriving Grand Central District.”
Mastry’s customers, Cuccaro added, will be able to pick out furnishings and artwork for a room they’re remodeling and then find “the finishing touches” among Pour and Decor’s selections.
The coffee shop part of Pour and Decor will embrace the traditional Italian coffee shop experience. “We will be serving quality Italian coffee roasted by Mazzaro’s who was just voted the best coffee roaster in Tampa Bay at this year’s Best of the Bay Awards. We will also feature other non-coffee alternatives like matcha, chai, and other teas.”
Pour and Decor will also feature a small breakfast menu: including a selection of pastries, breakfast toasts, bowls, and other quick healthy choices.
Pour and Decor hopes to open by the end of the year at 2210 Central Avenue in the Grand Central District. Be sure to check out their website and follow them on Instagram and Facebook to stay up to date on the latest happenings.
The new shop is currently hiring for staff on both the coffee and the home decor side as well as in the kitchen. Those interested should email their resume to sales@pouranddecor.com.
