Secret bourbon bar opens on 1st Avenue North in St. Pete's EDGE District
A new bourbon bar hidden inside a liquor store has made its debut in St. Pete's EDGE District.
The 1st Ave Clubhouse Bourbon Bar is tucked away inside the newly relocated 1st Ave Liquors store at 1211 1st Avenue North Suite 100, adjacent to the Zubrick Magic Theatre.
The Clubhouse, described as a speakeasy-style hangout for bourbon enthusiasts, serves expertly crafted cocktails and rare bourbon.
"We are different from most bars in that we are an American Bourbon and Whiskey Bar, offering a wide selection of small craft distillery, mainstream, and allocated bourbons," the business's Facebook page reads.
The Clubhouse only sells bourbon and whiskey at the bar.
Bourbon is typically sweeter than whiskey and has strong woody notes of vanilla, oak, and caramel, although different varieties can have a more robust and spicier flavor profile.
The Clubhouse carries new and aged bourbons from small-batch distilleries to more prominent brands such as Breckenridge, Bardstown, Basil Hayden, Castle & Key, Garrison Brothers, Horse Soldier, Doc Swinson.
The pours are one-and-a-half ounces and are generally priced around $10.
The pricing ranges from $5 for a 1792 Small Batch or a Buffalo Trace pour to $40 for a Borchetta or a Jefferson Marion McLain pour.
For patrons who want to experience the bold taste of different bourbons, the Clubhouse has a cabinet system, offering allocated bottles at a normal price per pour. This allows enthusiasts to experience the taste of certain bourbon without committing to a full drink.
All allocated pours are one ounce, and customers are limited to two pours of any bottle per visit and can purchase up to eight total ounces out of the allocated cabinet.
The bottles will change weekly.
Customers can also rent a bourbon locker.
The 1st Ave Liquors store, which is where the bar is housed, is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Hours for The Clubhouse may vary.
