A construction milestone has been reached on a major multifamily development in St. Petrsburg’s Skyway Marina District where new building techniques allowed eight floors of construction to be raised in one month.
The Marina Club Apartments, which is under development at 4311 34th Street South, was first announced in July 2021 and was approved in August 2021.
The 400-unit apartment building consists of an eight-story structure with six residential floors sitting atop two floors of parking. An amenity deck will be located on the third floor and a resident sky lounge will be located on the eighth floor that will overlook Boca Ciega Bay.

Yesterday, St. Pete’s Development Review Commission unanimously approved plans for a mixed-use development planned for the southwest corner of 34th Street South and 42nd Avenue South in the Skyway Marina District.
The project at 4311 34th Street South was first announced by St. Pete Rising in early June and will feature a 400-unit multifamily building along with a 95,000 square foot self-storage facility, a 2,400 square foot bank, and a 4,500 square foot restaurant pad.
The land is under contract for purchase by Jack Dougherty of Allied Group Holdings and is currently occupied by an underutilized strip mall. Allied Group previously sold a 5.25-acre parcel just south of the site to Sarasota-based LifeStar Living which is planning to construct a nine-story luxury senior living community – The Manhattan.
An underutilized shopping center at the southwest corner of 34th Street South and 42nd Avenue South is slated to become the latest new development in the Skyway Marina District.
Plans have been filed for a mixed-use project at 4311 34th Street South that will feature 400 residential units, a 95,000 square foot self-storage facility, a 2,400 square foot bank, and a 4,500 square foot restaurant. The project is expected to go before the Development Review Commission for site plan approval on July 7th.

These projects include four apartment developments and one townhome community. The four apartment developments are located in neighborhoods outside of downtown St. Petersburg and will bring over 1,500 new apartments to St. Petersburg once completed in 2024.
