A new local furniture store recently opened in the Grand Central District, providing a variety of stylish options for local homeowners and decorators.

Gibson’s on Central, located at 2646 Central Avenue, features a curated selection of imported chairs and sofas, Himalayan blankets, rugs, and light fixtures. The shop, which has a grand opening planned for March 8th, is situated next to Bandit Coffee and was formerly home to Salty Roots Salon and Boutique.

Owner Tara Gibson worked with commercial broker Jenna Malowany of the Archer Group to secure the lease for the 2,340-square-foot space.

In addition to furniture, Gibson’s on Central carries plant-based cleaning products, beach blankets, handbags, and other home accessories.

Gibson is a seasoned interior designer, and owner of Tara Gibson Interiors, with a keen eye for decor and a talent for transforming spaces into modern, stylish environments.

She typically designs bespoke, high-end interiors for new construction homes and large-scale renovations. She specializes in a modern aesthetic that incorporates traditional architectural elements and a mix of materials and furnishings—both new and vintage.

This style is reflected in her shop, which offers customizable furniture and high-quality, U.S.-made pieces.

“It's much more approachable for people to see something displayed in a way that makes sense to them. If you're not in the creative space or a designer, you might not naturally envision how a single piece, like a chair, fits into a larger design,” Gibson told St. Pete Rising.

“I feel like this store is a great fit for an area with an eclectic, vintage-collecting community, but where there aren’t many places to buy a new sofa. Additionally, people are looking to replace furniture lost due to recent storms,” continued Gibson.

The modern, bright-white showroom features furniture and home accessories priced at what Gibson describes as an “introductory luxury price point.”

“Even as a child, I was constantly rearranging my furniture. I’ve always loved residential design and have worked in the field for 13 years. Commercial design can be rigid, whereas residential design allows for more creative freedom,” she said.

For furniture sales, the store offers a white-glove delivery and setup service, ensuring that ordered pieces are installed seamlessly in customers' homes.

Gibson’s on Central also provides trade discounts for interior designers—an industry-standard practice—as well as special pricing and programs for realtors staging homes and referrals. A loyalty program allows returning customers to earn points on purchases.

Gibson plans to launch online sales in the future.

The shop is open Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
