Wild Child owners to open martini-focused cocktail lounge Slim Charmer in Grand Central District

Slim Charmer will be situated in a quaint, 800-square-foot building adjacent to Wild Child in the Grand CEntral District | St. Pete Rising

The team behind the popular Wild Child restaurant is opening a new intimate cocktail lounge in the Grand Central District early next year.

Tucked inside a charming, 1940s building adjacent to Wild Child’s patio at 2706 Central Avenue, Slim Charmer is the rebellious little sister of Wild Child and plans to offer a unique blend of bold, martini-focused cocktails and elevated, seasonal small plates.

Owned by Rob Reinsmith and Matt Kaye, the cozy 26-seat lounge is named after Kaye's wife (a former nickname of hers) and the 800-square-foot space the lounge will occupy.

The interior will boast a contemporary atmosphere inspired by New York City's metropolitan energy.

Similar to Wild Child, Kaye hopes Slim Charmer will stand out as an innovative destination where guests can savor the unexpected and experience flavors not found elsewhere.

Details on the martini-focused cocktail menu are being kept under wraps for now, but expect to find creative and innovative concoctions only found at Slim Charmer. A wine list will also be offered.

Chef Scott Grimm, who has worked at Wild Child for roughly four years, will manage the kitchen and oversee the small sophisticated menu featuring seafood-forward tapas and a raw bar.

Reinsmith recently shared a glimpse of the food menu with St. Pete Rising.

The menu will feature around eight small plates, which will rotate frequently based on the season and available ingredients, providing a different experience for returning diners.

The menu will always feature a toast or two, such as a mushroom toast with Point Reyes blue cheese and vincotto, which is a “cooked wine” made from unfermented grape must.

Also on the menu will be raw oysters with a passionfruit mignonette, green cocktail sauce, and horseradish; razor clams with green apples, shallots, and chervil; and Crudo Misti, a dish consisting of bluefin tuna, ocean trout, fluke with crushed Castelvetrano olives, Calabrian chile, capers, and lemon verbena oil.

While around 26 people can imbibe and dine comfortably inside, there will also be a few tables outside along Central Avenue.

The team expects to debut Slim Charmer by early 2025.
