Israeli Burger Joint to Open in Downtown St. Pete
/Burgerim, which translates to "many burgers" in Hebrew, will be opening on the ground level of ONE St. Petersburg, Downtown St. Pete’s tallest tower.
Started in Tel Aviv in 2011 and now headquartered in California, founder Donna Tuchner discovered a way to set Burgerim apart from other burger eateries – variety. Instead of the typical 7oz burger, Burgerim specializes in 2.8oz mini burgers. While their size is similar to a White Castle burger, it’s the flexibility in toppings that sets the restaurant apart.
Burgerim features numerous customizations including: three buns, six sauces, ten patties, and nine toppings. The choice of patties includes beef, turkey, lamb, dry-aged, chicken, chorizo, salmon, merguez (spicy beef), wagyu, and veggie.
You can dress your burger with traditional toppings like mixed greens, grilled onions, and sautéed mushrooms and then add specialty toppings such as pineapple, avocado, or a sunny side up egg. This flexibility allows you to build a simple burger for the kids or an unconventional masterpiece for yourself. And each burger meal comes with a side of either fries, sweet potato fries, or onion rings.
Dietary alternatives are available to suit the needs of those who are vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free. In addition to burgers, the fast casual restaurant also serves chicken wings, sandwiches, and salads.
Currently, there are more than 160 Burgerim restaurants in the United States, as well as in other countries such as England, Russia, Spain, and Romania. By the end of 2019, the franchise hopes to operate nearly 500 stores in the United States, including five more locations in Tampa Bay.
Burgerim will be located at 120 1st Avenue North on the ground floor of ONE St Petersburg. The restaurant is currently in permitting and will begin build-out in the coming months. An exact opening date has not been announced. Follow Burgerim St Pete on Instagram to stay up-to-date on their progress and eventual opening.
