Pour Judgement will be Tampa Bay’s first craft shot bar
/You can’t talk about nightlife in Downtown St. Pete without mentioning the Jannus block. Bound by Central Avenue and First Avenue North between 1st Street and 2nd Street, nearly every business on the block is a bar, except for a handful of restaurants specializing in the drunk food. I’m looking at you Joey Brooklyn’s, Top Slice, and Hoots!
While we are sad to report on the closing of The Tamiami at 269 Central Avenue, we are really excited about what is replacing it. Pour Judgement will be a craft shot bar featuring hundreds of cleverly crafted shots opening later this month.
This new bar concept will be the first of its kind in Tampa Bay and is being brought to life by a group of seasoned hospitality veterans in St. Pete including Michael Jennings, Miles Duncan, Jerrad Atkin, Billy Orfanakos, Joe Moledo, and Melissa Powell. Jennings, Duncan, Atkin, and Orfanakos also own One Night Stand, a lively country bar located a block away at 149 1st Avenue North.
Pour Judgement will offer 269 shots, a nod to their address of 269 Central Avenue. Yes, you read that correctly. Two hundred and sixty-nine. That’s a ton of options! You could try two different shots every Saturday for two and a half years and you still wouldn’t have had them all.
The menu will feature punched-up shots using all five major spirits (vodka, gin, tequila, rum, and whiskey), as well as shots with less mainstream liquors such as sake and limoncello.
With so many choices, how do you decide what to order? For something sweeter, try Left Twix and Right Twix. Looking for adventure? Order a Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired flaming shot called Why’s The Rum Gone? Or maybe you want to spice up your night with the El Vocho, a jalapeño tequila shot garnished with jalapeño.
Ever wanted to know what an Old Fashioned tasted like, but don’t want to risk having to nurse a drink you don’t like all night? Pour Judgement will serve well-known cocktails in shot form.
On the other hand, any of the 269 shots on the menu can be made into a regular-sized drink.
The entire menu will be displayed on the wall opposite the bar and each shot will run between $6 to $12. In a back corner of the bar you’ll find a grand piano fashioned into a DJ stand next to a mural of Frank Sinatra, courtesy of The Vitale Bros.
Lastly, be sure to stop by Pour Judgement after church on Sundays to indulge in The Seven Deadly Shots. These seven sips are only available on Sunday, so don’t miss out!
Pour Judgement opens on Friday, August 21st at 269 Central Avenue in Downtown St. Pete. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram to stay up-to-date on grand opening plans and for photos of the different shot offerings.
