Crave Cookies to take over iconic Twistee Treat location in Kenneth City

Crave Cookies is opening at 5804 54th Avenue North in Kenneth City, less than a mile from the border of St. Petersburg

The vacant Kenneth City building that used to look like a delicious vanilla ice cream cone is about to be revived as a cookie shop.

Formerly home to Twistee Treat and then The Daily Scoop, the property at 5804 54th Avenue North, which is less than a mile from the border of St. Petersburg, had a makeover when Driftwood Kava and Roastery was planning to occupy the space about a year ago. The iconic ice cream cone was covered with brown foam to resemble a volcano. However, Driftwood never opened and the space went back on the market.

Recently, a new banner was hoisted indicating the property has been leased to Crave Cookies & Soda, a Utah-based company that recently expanded to Florida, opening its first Sunshine State shop in Odessa. It operates eight stores in Utah.

According to the Crave Cookies & Soda website, the brand is best known for its rotating, carefully curated menu of handcrafted, freshly baked cookies, several of which are so big they resemble hamburgers.

Two of the most popular flavors include the Peanut Butter Cup Cookie, which contains peanut butter dough, Butterfinger chunks, and Reese’s peanut butter cups; and the Samoa, which consists of white sugar dough, Ghirardelli caramel, toasted coconut, and milk chocolate.

Biscoff Explosion, The Scotcherookie, Oreo Cheesecake, Mega Stuff Cookies and Cream, Strawberry Shortcake, and Crave Chocolate Chip are just a few of the other flavors on offer.

Crave Cookies & Soda refreshes its menu every Friday morning with six new cookie creations from the company’s 100+ rotating recipes that “are sure to make even the pickiest of foodies blush,” the website reads.

Customers can wash down a Crave Cookie with one of the company’s loaded sodas. There are nearly 20 varieties, examples of which include Coconut Crave (Diet Coke, coconut, fresh lime) and Southern Sunrise (Sprite, strawberry, watermelon, and peach). If you’d rather create your own soda, you’ll be able to combine your choice of soda with creams, flavored syrups, purees, and boba popping pearls.

Individual cookies cost $3.95 while the sodas are less than $1. Cookies are also available in a Mixed Box (4 cookies) for $13.75, a Six Pack (6 cookies) for $19, and a Dozen Box (12 cookies) for $34.50.

Crave Cookies & Soda also offers catering services. Event organizers can order a package of Crave-lits, which are about a third of the size of a Crave Classic cookie, for $1.50 per cookie (minimum order size is 50 cookies). Flavors include Coconut Crave, Chocolate Chip, Classic Sugar, The Flintstone, and the Brookie. Classic Cookie catering packages are also available.
