Fit2Run, the beloved Florida-based running retailer, is taking a major step forward in downtown St. Pete. This May, the brand will open two side-by-side retail stores at 801 Central Avenue—an upgraded Fit2Run store and the launch of a brand-new lifestyle concept, 6Laps.
The dual-storefront, spanning a combined 6,643 square feet on the ground floor of Camden Central, represents a new era for the company, which has been serving runners since 2006. Fit2Run will occupy the majority of the space with a 5,143-square-foot location, while 6Laps will take over a smaller, 1,500-square-foot footprint next door.
Though connected by a revolving door, the two stores will operate independently with distinct identities, aesthetics, and product lines.
“We’re really excited to be moving our Fit2Run store to an amazing space on Central Avenue,” said Parks Robinson, President and CEO of Fit2Run.
“St. Pete is full of energy and we are looking forward to furthering our connection with the community,” Robinson said. “At the same time, launching our first 6Laps store is a big moment for us. It’s a brand built on everything we’ve learned over the years, and now we get to share it in a whole new way. Both stores are all about inspiring people to move and connect.”

The Story Behind 6Laps
While Fit2Run has long been a destination for runners seeking high-performance footwear and gear, 6Laps fills a new niche in the market: trendy lifestyle footwear and apparel for those who want to look good on and off the track.
The idea emerged after nearly two decades in the business, when the Fit2Run team saw a growing demand for contemporary, fashion-forward activewear that blends form with function.
6Laps will stock only lifestyle-focused shoes and clothing, with brands like ASICS, On, New Balance, and the cult-favorite Bandit. The clothing selection will be split evenly with footwear and will include exclusive 6Laps-branded pieces. 6Laps will offer separate inventory from Fit2Run with no overlap.
Its aesthetic will stand in stark contrast to the vibrant, high-energy vibe of Fit2Run—expect a sleek, modern look featuring black-and-white tones, exposed columns, and a minimalistic feel.
The name "6Laps" itself is a nod to the company’s family-owned roots. It represents the six members of the Robinson family—two parents and four children—who are the heart of the Fit2Run legacy.

A New Home on Central Avenue
Fit2Run’s downtown St. Petersburg store is relocating from its long-standing home at 256 2nd Street North, a space it has occupied since 2012, which is expected to be redeveloped into a 14-story Tempo by Hilton hotel.
While a construction timeline on the new hotel has not been announced, Fit2Run announced in January 2024 it would be moving to Central Avenue.
The company also recently opened a new Fit2Run location at Tyrone Square Mall in west St. Petersburg.
The new location at 801 Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg will join Bohemios Wine and Bar, Tweeds Suit Shop, J. Fiore’s Contemporary Steakhouse, BODYROK, Top Buttons, and Watts Dental on the ground floor of Camden Central.
The new Fit2Run space will be packed with features tailored to serious runners and casual joggers alike.
Customers can expect the brand’s signature gait analysis and foot scanner technology, a curated selection of footwear and accessories, and a space designed to serve as a community hub.
Fit2Run plans to host regular events and partner with groups like the Pinellas Run Club.
To celebrate the grand opening, Fit2Run and 6Laps will host a series of events, including a community fun run and an evening celebration at the new 6Laps store.
Both events aim to bring together the fitness and lifestyle communities that these two brands now serve under one roof.
