Fit2Run is expanding with plans to open a new athletic apparel store in St. Petersburg.

Fit2Run, a family-owned Bradenton-based business selling footwear and apparel for runners, will open a new store in February at Tyrone Square Mall at 6901 22nd Avenue North. The store will open in space 840A.

The announcement of the second store comes a year after the fitness retailer announced it is opening a store in the ground floor of the Camden Central apartment complex, located at 855 Central Avenue.

Work is underway on the Central Avenue store and it is expected to open in April. The store is a relocation from Fit2Run's original St. Pete storefront at 256 2nd Street North, where Delray Beach-based Kolter Group plans to build a 14-story, 192-room Tempo by Hilton hotel.

A closing date for the original St. Petersburg store has not been announced.

Fit2Run has over 20 stores throughout Florida, and over 40 nationwide, specializing in matching runners to the right shoes for their training needs.

The business also offers professional coaching and social events. In St. Pete and Tampa, Fit2Run hosts a training program to prepare runners for the annual Skyway 10K race, a 6.2-mile course spanning from the south to the north end of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

The new store in the shopping center will debut next month and will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
