Amorino Gelato sets opening date for EDGE District debut

A new gelato shop is set to open in St. Pete’s EDGE District next week.

Amorino, a French gelato brand with locations around the world, will celebrate the grand opening of its first Florida storefront at 1246 Central Avenue on Friday, May 1st.

The shop’s entrance is located along 1st Avenue South, and Amorino will share the building with Bosphorus Turkish Cuisine, which recently opened along Central Avenue.

Grand opening festivities will take place Saturday, May 2nd from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with games and promotional giveaways planned throughout the afternoon.

“We are excited to open our first Florida gelato shop in St. Petersburg…Amorino Gelato is one of the most recognizable artisanal gelato brands in Europe,” said local franchisee Germán Rodríguez Daza in a conversation with St. Pete Rising.

Founded in 2002 by Paolo Benassi and Cristiano Sereni, Amorino has grown to more than 300 locations across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

The St. Pete shop marks the company’s first brick-and-mortar location in Florida, following a kiosk at Tampa’s International Plaza that opened in 2022.

The 1,800-square-foot space is designed to reflect a European-style café, with a bright interior and both indoor and outdoor seating.

The shop is best known for its signature presentation, where gelato is layered into the shape of a rose.

Customers can choose from a range of flavors including hazelnut, pistachio, vanilla, tiramisu, coffee, salted butter caramel, and coconut.

Dairy-free sorbet options are also available, with flavors like mango, strawberry, lemon, chocolate, and lime-basil.

In addition to gelato, the menu includes crepes, waffles, sundaes, milkshakes, cakes, and gelato-filled macarons.

Espresso drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, and affogatos are made using Lavazza coffee beans.

Seasonal and limited-edition flavors will rotate throughout the year.
