Christmas-themed pop-up bar Miracle at Mezzo returns to downtown St. Pete’s EDGE District

Miracle at Mezzo, downtown St. Pete’s first and longest-running Christmas pop-up bar, is back at 1111 Central Avenue | Miracle at Mezzo

Miracle at Mezzo, a Christmas-themed pop-up bar, has overtaken Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails for the sixth consecutive year at at 1111 Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg. Intermezzo is a coffee by day, cocktails by night concept that opened in 2016 and has since become an anchor in the EDGE District.

Intermezzo is known for their themed events and among their most popular is Miracle at Mezzo, a seasonal holiday popup full of holiday cheer.

This year Miracle at Mezzo has debuted a menu of 11 festive cocktails and two seasonal shots that will be available every day until New Year’s Eve.

According to Intermezzo owner Jarrett Sabatini, Miracle at Mezzo is the first and longest-running Christmas bar in the Tampa Bay region. The Miracle Christmas bar concept originated in New York City about a decade ago and it’s since become a franchise, with seasonal pop-ups appearing across the country and even overseas.

“It became a sensation in New York,” Sabatini said in an interview with St. Pete Rising. “We were among the first in Florida to do it.”

Miracle at Mezzo opened on November 24th, Black Friday, with a menu that will soften the heart of any grinch. Drinks include the Christmaspolitan, Elfing Around, and Sabatini’s personal favorite, Christmas Cricket, which combines blanco tequila, vanilla liqueur, minty amaro, cream, bitters, cocoa powder, and dark chocolate.

“It is among the best selling cocktails this year,” Sabatini said, adding that he’s also a fan of the Jingle Balls Nog. “Basically, it’s homemade eggnog with cognac and sherry. You can’t go wrong.”

Two shots — a Nice Shot and a Naughty Shot — are also available. The Nice Shot is made up of rye whiskey and gingerbread, while the Naughty Shot consists of tequila, ginger, and hibiscus.

Both shots and cocktails come in glasses or mugs that are offered for sale and make great Christmas gifts, Sabatini added.

The food menu won’t be too different from what Intermezzo usually offers, but Sabatini said he’ll stock some custom seasonal baked goods, such as gingerbread loaves and snickerdoodle blondies.

“We mainly sell those during the day,” he said, “but we’ll keep some of the cookies and stuff out at night.”

Miracle at Mezzo will also host some special events, such as an event on Tuesday December 5th to benefit Children’s Dream Fund.

“We’re giving a percent of all sales back to them,” Sabatini said. “On the following Tuesday, the 12th, we’ll have a holiday jazz night. We do a jazz night every month, but this is one of our biggest ones.”

Miracle at Mezzo opens at 8 a.m. every day and will stay open until midnight, except for Fridays and Saturdays when it will close at 2 a.m.
