Nah Dogs vegan hot dog cart opening permanent storefront in the Grand Central District

A popular vegan concept that began as a roaming cart is preparing to open its first permanent location in the Grand Central District.

Nah Dogs, known as St. Pete’s only 100% vegan hot dog cart, will open its first brick-and-mortar at 18 22nd Street South this summer.

The space was most recently home to Rabbit Rabbit, a short-lived cafe that served coffee, smoothies, and mocktails. Before that, it was occupied by Squeeze Juice Works.

The new location shares a courtyard with Black Crow Coffee and Tombolo Books.

Jenny Howe, who runs Nah Dogs with her husband Jeff, told St. Pete Rising they’re excited to finally have a permanent spot.

“For years, the number one question we’ve heard from customers is, ‘Do you have a brick-and-mortar?’ so we decided it was time to give it a shot,” she said. “Sharing a space with Black Crow and Tombolo just felt like a perfect fit for us.”

Nah Dogs began slinging vegan glizzies in 2019 and has since appeared at markets, festivals, and pop-ups throughout the Tampa Bay area.

The concept centers around vegan hot dogs topped with a variety of house combinations and customizable ingredients.

Howe said the menu will expand beyond what the couple has offered from their food cart over the years as they settle into the new space.

Popular items include the Yo Soy Dog, topped with nacho chz, street corn salsa, pickled jalapeño, garlic mayo, and crunched tortilla chips; The Captain, served with chili, chz, fried onions, and spicy mustard; and The Civilian, a classic-style dog topped with relish, chopped onion, ketchup, and mustard.

Guests can also build their own with toppings such as chili, nacho chz, chopped onions, pickled jalapeños, sweet relish, fried onions, sauerkraut, and crunched potato chips.

Condiments include ketchup, mustard, spicy mustard, and garlic mayo.
