Popular ‘dirty soda’ chain Swig eyes first Pinellas County location
/A viral soda drive-thru by way of Utah may be putting down roots in Pinellas County.
In late December, a pre-application meeting request was filed with the City of Largo, kick-starting the early stages of a potential Swig at the corner of Missouri Avenue North and Rosery Road Northwest between a PNC Bank and Extra Space Storage.
If the project ultimately moves forward, the Largo parcel would become the first Swig in Pinellas County, and one of just a handful of locations in the greater Tampa Bay area.
Founded in Utah, Swig is best known for its customizable “dirty sodas”, a signature creation that combines classic sodas with flavored syrups, fresh fruit purees, and creamy add-ins like coconut cream.
Beyond dirty sodas, Swig’s menu also includes water-based Refreshers (made with flat or sparkling water), flavored sweet teas, and “Reviver” energy drink, all of which can be customized with sugar-free options, swapped bases, or added flavors.
Small bites like cookies and pretzels are on the menu, too.
Among the chain’s most popular drinks are the “Texas Tab,” a blend of Dr. Pepper, vanilla syrup, and coconut cream; the “Shark Attack”, a mixture of Sprite, lemonade and blue raspberry that gets garnished with a gummy shark; and lighter options like the Strawberry Breeze, made with water, sugar-free flavors, strawberry puree, and coconut cream.
Swig’s popularity has surged nationwide in recent years, driven largely by social media trends on TikTok, exposure from the reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and collaborations with celebrities like Taylor Swift.
While the “dirty soda” movement was initially popularized within the Latter-day Saints or Mormon community, where alcohol and coffee are avoided, the concept has since gone mainstream.
Today, Swig operated roughly 140 locations over more than a dozen states, with several upcoming soda shops planned for Florida alone.
Tampa Bay’s first and only Swig debuted in Lutz in late 2025, with two more locations planned in Pasco County.
For now, Pinellas County’s closest Swig is in Bradenton at 6412 Cortez Road West.
