Niche grocer Sprouts Farmers Market has opened its new Largo store, offering farm-fresh natural and organic foods.

This morning, local management and city officials celebrated the grand opening at 2156 East Bay Drive in the Keene Plaza Shopping Center.

The new 23,266-square-foot Largo store is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

To celebrate the grand opening, from Friday, March 21st, through Sunday, a variety of activities will take place, including a “pop-up party” featuring seasonal produce at a tasting bar, a “guess the weight” contest with an oversized piece of produce, and more, according to the company's announcement.

The first 200 shoppers on Friday and Saturday will receive a free reusable goodie bag filled with special products and samples. Additionally, the first 400 guests on Friday will receive a free long-stem rose, courtesy of Falcon Farms Floral.

Shoppers can receive 20% off their purchase during the grand opening weekend by texting LARGO to 777-688 and scanning their app account barcode at checkout, with up to two redemptions per Sprouts account per day.

“This investment in our city reflects Largo’s dedication to fostering a vibrant business environment that enhances the quality of life for its residents,” Largo Mayor Woody Brown said in a statement.

“Sprouts Farmers Market brings valuable jobs to Largo, along with a focus on fresh, healthy food options that align with our city’s commitment toward wellness and sustainability,” Mayor Brown continued.

St. Petersburg-based commercial real estate firm Paradise Ventures, which is redeveloping the Sundial shopping complex in downtown St. Pete, demolished 35,500 square feet of retail space at the northeast end of the plaza to make way for Sprouts Farmers Market and another tenant.

The space previously housed a Save A Lot and Bealls Outlet. Winn-Dixie also once operated at the site.

Every Sprouts Farmers Market is intentionally designed to feel like a farmer’s market, with an open layout and fresh produce at the heart of the store.

Sprouts is known for its organic produce, expansive bulk foods section, and vitamin department. It offers healthy proteins such as grass-fed beef, a wide variety of gluten-free, vegan, and keto options, and self-serve nuts and coffee sections. The store also has its own private-label products and offers ready-made meals.

Each location features a butcher station where shoppers can purchase hand-cut meat and seafood.

The Largo Sprouts opening marks another regional expansion for the Phoenix-based grocer, which now operates over 50 stores in Florida, including locations in Clearwater, Palm Harbor, Seminole, Kenneth City, and the future mixed-use Sky Town development in St. Pete’s Skyway Marina District.

Sprouts was founded by members of the Boney family, long-time San Diego grocers focused on making fresh foods affordable. The company opened its first store in Chandler, Arizona, in 2002.

Today, Sprouts, one of the largest and fastest-growing specialty retailers of fresh, natural, and organic food in the United States, employs approximately 32,000 team members and operates more than 415 stores.
