Valhalla Bakery reopens in shared space with Valkyrie Doughnuts in the Grand Central District

Valhalla Bakery is now open in a shared space with Valkyrie Doughnuts at 2444 Central Avenue, just four downs from their previous location at 2458 Central Avenue | St Pete Rising

Customers can continue indulging in Valhalla Bakery's delicious bars, cakes, and cookies just four doors down from their previous location in the Grand Central District.

The vegan bakery, named after the Viking Heaven, has relocated from its previous spot at 2458 Central Avenue into the neighboring Valkyrie Doughnuts at 2444 Central Avenue.

A new banner hung outside the new shared space reads “Valhalla Bakery featuring Valkyrie Doughnuts”.

Valhalla Bakery owner Celine Beltgens, who also owns Valkyrie Doughnuts, explained it wasn't financially feasible to have two separate locations due to the spiking costs of ingredients and fluctuations in today's economy, making it a struggle for small businesses to survive on lower profits.

"We were very lucky we were able to do this and save on overhead costs," Beltgens said to St. Pete Rising. "I'm excited that we can maintain our quality staff and curate that same culture here."

Over the years, Valhalla Bakery has evolved from selling treats at local farmers' markets to opening storefronts.

Beltgens, who opened the St. Pete brick-and-mortar bakery in 2020, also owns a Valhalla Bakery and a Valkyrie Doughnuts location in Orlando.

The relocation started in mid-February, with the store temporarily closing during that brief period. However, Valhalla Bakery is finally back open in their new shared space with Valkyrie Doughnuts.

"We haven't scaled back our offerings. We have changed the pastry case set up and are working on expanding into seasonal and specialty coffee drinks," Beltgens said.

Valhalla Bakery's top sellers are the Pistachio Rose Bar and Death Bar, made with a brownie base, whipped peanut butter filling, and topped with caramelized Oreos, chocolate chips, and ganache.

Valkyrie Doughnuts' rotating menu includes matcha vanilla cinnamon rolls, banana crème brûlée doughnuts, chocolate French toast doughnuts, and other colorful baked goods.

Valhalla Bakery is open on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Thursday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
