New dessert cafe Flip Crepes and Waffles to debut on Central Avenue

Flip Crepes and Waffles, a new French-inspired dessert cafe, is coming soon to 625 Central Avenue, formerly home to Swah-Rey.

With an opening set for the end of this month or beginning of February, Flip Crepes and Waffles will be offering freshly baked pastries, breakfast eats, and contemporary interpretations of French cuisine favorites, such as sweet and savory crêpes, and handmade waffles.

Owner Leana Monrazel is a native of the Sunshine State with parents born and raised in France. The Monrazel family has considerable baking experience and a passion for gourmet desserts having previously owned and operated multiple pastry and gelato cafes around the world – from their homeland of France to Hawaii and even the French Caribbean islands. This will be the Monrazel family’s first cafe in Tampa Bay.

The main attraction at Flip will be crepes and waffles. Details on the waffles are being kept under wraps for now, but the crepes will include popular sweet-style options like Nutella, banana, and strawberry, as well as the classic strawberries and cream. Savory options will also be available such as chicken, cheese, and pesto as well as bacon, egg, and cheese for breakfast, to name a few.

The menu will also feature a range of handcrafted pastries and baked goods like croissants, sticky buns, and brownies.

To drink, Flip will offer a full coffee and tea bar, featuring hot, cold, and frozen options made with Illy coffee, a high-quality Italian style espresso.

Additionally, the menu will satisfy healthy cravings with a variety of fresh cold-pressed juices as well as build-your-own health bowls with fruity açai and pitaya bases topped with superfood options.

Flip Crepes and Waffles will be a welcome addition to the 600 block of Central Avenue, offering patrons of all ages the chance to visit and find a treat they can enjoy alone or with friends and loved ones.
