Vertical construction is imminent at downtown St. Pete’s next high-rise tower.

Next week, crews from KAST Construction will start pouring the foundation for 3rd & 3rd, a 33-story 262-unit apartment tower currently under construction in downtown St. Pete.

It’ll be one of the largest foundation pours ever completed in the city.

The main core mat foundation pour, consisting of 4,000 cubic yards of concrete, will commence on Friday January 24th at 8:00 p.m. and last between 12 to 14 hours.

The team estimates that roughly 380 to 420 concrete trucks will make their way through the project site located at 235 3rd Street South on the northwest corner of 3rd Avenue South and 3rd Street directly across from the Publix-anchored University Village shopping center.

After the foundation has been poured, vertical construction will commence.

3rd & 3rd, which was first announced on St. Pete Rising in September 2022, is being developed by St. Pete-based Echelon in partnership with Tampa-based Third Lake Capital.

“It's an incredible milestone for the 3rd & 3rd project, and we couldn't be prouder to contribute to the ever-evolving skyline of downtown St. Pete,” read a post on KAST Construction’s LinkedIn.

In addition to 262 apartments, the building will include residential amenities, a 330-space parking garage, and 15,000 square feet of retail space, which is available for lease through Axxos Commercial.

The apartments will range from studios to large two-story penthouse units on the top floor, which all feature high-end finishes and appliances.

The tower will also have an expansive eighth-floor amenity deck with an outdoor pool, cabanas, fire pits, and a large TV wall. Additional amenities include a gym, a community kitchen, resident workspaces, and conference rooms.

The building was designed by Tampa-based Baker Barrios Architects and features massive angular balconies, modern floor to ceiling windows, and dark accents along the parking garage and building base.

3rd & 3rd is expected to begin move-ins by the third quarter of 2026.

The tower represents the 4th project KAST Construction has worked on with Echelon.

“Like many of our projects, 3rd and 3rd faces the challenges of building on a very tight site in a congested urban environment,” KAST Senior Vice President Kristine Retetagos said in a prepared statement.

“Our longstanding relationship with Echelon and the way we approach challenges as a team is the ‘secret sauce’ that creates an environment of trust and teamwork leading to successful project outcomes.”

KAST Construction recently completed Park & Main, a 17-story apartment tower at Echelon City Center in north St. Pete.

Last year, Echelon and KAST Construction broke ground on a 14-story luxury apartment tower adjacent to Park & Main.
