St. Petersburg College lists 32 acres for sale for potential redevelopment

St. Petersburg College is soliciting offers to sell off multiple properties in Pinellas County, including its Allstate Campus in south St. Pete.

SPC has hired CBRE as the listing agent for the sites at 32000 34th South in St. Petersburg, home of the Allstate Campus, and 7200 66th Street North in Pinellas Park, the site of the Health Education Center.

The two properties total 32 acres. "These properties offer a rare opportunity to develop large mixed-use properties in the state's densest county," CBRE Executive Vice President David Conn said in a prepared statement.

Club at Treasure Island owners outline plans for property

The California-based ownership group that recently acquired the Club at Treasure Island, at 400 Treasure Island Causeway, has announced its vision for reactivating the property, which has been dormant since August 2023.

According to Sam Tavakoli, a partner at Tavaco Properties, big changes are planned for the club, but it won’t be completely redeveloped, as former owner Bill Edwards tried — and failed — to do.

“We are not developers,” Tavakoli said in an interview with St. Pete Rising. “We have no intention of developing the site. What we’re actively trying to do is essentially run it like a pseudo-retail property. We’re looking for best-in-class operators to operate the restaurant, for example, and we are looking for a best-in-class event operator, as well. And then you have the pool and tiki bar. That’s another venue we’ve been discussing.”

21-story apartment tower approved for Dr. MLK Jr. Street in downtown St. Pete

A 21-story apartment tower will be erected on a surface parking lot along Arlington Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, despite opposition from property owners of the abutting townhomes.

New York-based real estate investment firm Abacus Capital Group received site plan approval from the St. Petersburg Development Review Commission on Tuesday February 7th for the $109 million mixed-use project.

The development calls for 292 market-rate apartments, ground-floor retail, and a 373-space parking garage at 825 Arlington Avenue North, a parcel the group purchased in 2022 for $10.75 million.

Luxury townhomes to rise at former Greyhound Station in downtown St. Pete

Local developer Tampa Bay City Living plans to build a new upscale townhome community at the site of a former Greyhound Station and downtown food mart.

A total of 23 luxury units will be constructed at 180 and 200 Martin Luther King Jr. Street North. Fifteen homes will rise at the former Greyhound bus station property and eight homes will be built at the former downtown food mart.

Craft and his team have developed over 700 townhomes in Tampa Bay, including The District on 9th, a neighboring townhome community which wrapped construction last year.

"Ever since I became involved with the District on 9th next door, I've been enamored by these two properties," said Jeff Craft with Tampa Bay City Living.

Drive-thru salad restaurant Greenlane to open on 4th Street in St. Pete

St. Pete commuters can swap out greasy burgers from fast food joints for freshly-made salads at Greenlane's new drive-thru restaurant opening on 4th Street.

Greenlane, a health-conscious-driven restaurant concept expanding into several Tampa Bay-area submarkets, is getting ready to turn dirt at 8001 4th Street for its third location.

The 1,200-square-foot bright green building will have a single drive-thru lane and pickup window where customers can quickly order sweet and spicy salads or build their own.

Upscale wild game restaurant The Huntsman to replace The Mill at 200 Central

Grilled antelope, Sitka deer street tacos, and elk tenderloin are among the wild game dishes that will be served at The Huntsman, a new field-and-stream-to-table restaurant coming to downtown St. Pete.

The Huntsman, an upscale casual concept focusing on foraged, hunted, and farmed ingredients, will open at 200 Central Avenue in the space formerly occupied by The Mill, a popular downtown restaurant that closed last year citing damage to their building due to nearby construction.

Daniel Renninger, Skylar Stafford, and Ben Williamson, co-owners of The Huntsman, who have worked together at the restaurants operated by Renninger, joined forces several years ago to curate dishes from their worldly experiences.

Developer retools Coquina Key Plaza redevelopment in south St. Pete

St. Pete-based developer Stoneweg is adjusting its plans to transform the beleaguered Coquina Key Plaza in south St. Petersburg into a thriving retail center with market rate and workforce housing.

The real estate firm, which purchased the 14.5-acre plaza at 4350 6th Street South in 2022 for $8.9 million, is modifying the layout of the $124 million development to deliver the project in phases.

The previous plan, approved in July 2022, called for the construction of four separate residential buildings containing 465 apartments and more than 20,000 square feet of new retail space in front of the residences.
