Burlington Townhomes Rising on 8th Street in Downtown St. Pete

David Weekley Homes is developing the Burlington Townhomes at the northwest corner of Burlington Avenue and 8th Street in Downtown St. Pete.

Another townhome project is coming soon in Downtown St. Pete. David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest private home builder, is developing a 24-unit townhome community called Burlington Townhomes located at the northwest corner of Burlington Avenue and 8th Street North, only four blocks from Central Avenue.

The project is on the same site where 801 Conway was previously proposed. That project, which was initially announced in early 2016, would have featured 35 units in a series of four story buildings surrounding an interior parking motor court.

But before 801 Conway could break ground it was delayed by a series of permitting issues and was ultimately cancelled due to rising construction costs. Many of 801 Conway’s permitting delays were a result of its unique design, which featured a mix of condominiums and townhomes.

The Burlington Townhomes are under construction on the site of the previous 801 Conway proposal which was cancelled in 2017 due to permitting delays and construction costs.

David Weekley’s Burlington Townhomes is more traditional in design, featuring only townhomes, with each unit having three stories and a two car garage. The project will have total of four buildings with six units each and two driveways which will access the private garages.

Unlike many of the new townhomes built in the area, the Burlington Townhomes won’t feature rooftop decks. Instead each unit will have a small private yard. For the two inner buildings in the project, the yards will look into a landscaped pedestrian walkway while the outer buildings will have courtyard-style yards.

Construction on the project began earlier this year. And while two of the four buildings are under construction, the building that fronts 8th Street has already topped out. Units will range in size from 1,729-1,941 square feet and pricing will likely start in the mid-$500’s.

When the Burlington Townhomes project is complete, it will join a number of other recently completed townhome developments on 8th Street North, such as The Arlington and Skye333.

According to data compiled by St. Pete Rising, more than 25 townhome projects have been completed, are under construction, or have been proposed in the past five years for the greater Downtown St. Pete area. Together these projects sum to nearly 350 new residential units. The projects, which have seen strong buyer demand, range in size from smaller projects like The Gaslamps, a two-unit project proposed for 6th Street South, to larger projects like The District on 9th, a 34-unit project under construction on 9th Street North.

The Burlington Townhomes is expected to wrap up construction sometime in 2020. For more information on the project or for sales inquiries, visit David Weekley’s sales site.
