The Candle Pour to bring DIY candle making to the EDGE District
/A do-it-yourself candle-making shop has signed a lease in the EDGE District of downtown St. Pete. This will be the second location for the family owned and operated business, which debuted in Tampa’s Hyde Park Village in 2019.
The Candle Pour’s St. Pete outpost will be located at 1128 Central Avenue in a 2,000 square foot space formerly home to Rick’s Electronics Boutique, which moved to 3920 Central Avenue earlier this year. Jon Reno La Budde of KW Commercial represented the landlord in the deal.
Owners Misty and Dennis Akers hope to debut in the Sunshine City in early 2022.
"Candles were a big part of my childhood," said owner Misty Akers to St. Pete Patch in April 2019. "Candles have always been a sentimental part of our life. Dennis and I both feel they remind us of home and family. We love that we can create memories for others and be a part of their home."
The first step is for customers to choose their scent. The Candle Pour offers over 100 different fragrance options, ranging from earthy and masculine to floral and fresh.
Next, select your vessel. There are four candle sizes – 8 oz, 12 oz, two wick, and three wick. Flameless options, such as reed diffusers, linen spray, body spray, wax melts, and pure-fragrance oil, are also available.
The third and final step is to pour your candle. Have a seat at the Pour Bar and work with a team member to finish off your custom product.
The entire process only takes around 45 minutes. Once your candle is poured, it will need to set for 2 hours before it is ready to go home. Walk, shop, and dine around the EDGE District while you wait, or pick up your candle the next day.
As for pricing, candles start at $25 for the 8 oz option up to $55 for the three wick option. Wax melts, sprays, and oils are $20.
Although walk-ins are available on a first-come first-serve basis, reservations are recommended. And no need to leave the kids at home, they’re welcome at The Candle Pour with adult supervision.
In this age of online shopping, retail that offers an experience unable to be purchased on Amazon has been thriving. The Cake Drip, a DIY dessert boutique, recently debuted a block away from The Candle Pour at 1104 Central Avenue.
The Candle Pour will open at 1128 Central Avenue in early 2022. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date on grand opening plans.
