Downtown St. Pete’s newest rooftop bar Cane & Barrel to open in 2023

Cane & Barrel will be a Cuban-inspired rooftop bar opening in the AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown St. Pete.

Downtown St. Pete’s newest rooftop bar will open early next year on top of the AC Hotel by Marriott, which is currently under construction at 110 2nd Street North.

The 172-key AC Hotel is part of Ascent St. Pete, a 36-story $117 million hotel and apartment tower being developed and constructed by Greystar Real Estate Partners.

Cane & Barrel, the hotel’s signature rooftop terrace bar, will be located on the 8th floor of the hotel. The bar will be inspired by Cuban heritage and is designed with the flora and fauna of Florida in mind. The bar’s interiors were designed by the California-based Ellis Adams Group. 

The rooftop terrace was designed with influences from vintage wood cigar boxes.

Cane & Barrel will feature a 1,000-square-foot interior lounge and bar along with a 1,900-square-foot rooftop terrace which will include a second bar. Rum will be the signature spirit at Cane & Barrel with cocktails that reflect the spirit’s journey from cane to barrel.

The interior of the bar will reflect the colorful energy of Havana nights mixed with “an old-world charm,” according to the designers. Materials used for the build-out will include distressed plaster, carved wood paneling, and patterned walls that “feel reminiscent of the 1950s with a modern and tropical twist.”

The bar will be inspired by Cuban heritage and is designed with the flora and fauna of Florida in mind.

Vintage wood cigar boxes influenced the exterior bar design creating a warm backdrop for the rooftop lounge, which will overlook the downtown St. Pete skyline.

In addition to Cane & Barrel, the AC Hotel will have other food and beverage options including the signature AC Kitchen which serves breakfast to guests and the AC Lounge which offers refined tapas and drinks in the lobby.

The AC Hotel by Marriott St. Petersburg and Cane & Barrel are expected to open in early 2023.

The apartments at Ascent began pre-leasing a few weeks ago and expect to begin move-ins by January 2023 with final construction completed by May 2023.

The rooftop bar is located in the base of Ascent St. Petersburg, a 36-story apartment and hotel building, currently under construction at 110 2nd Avenue North.
