Italian apparel store opening at Sundial
Incanto Moda Italiana, an Italian women’s boutique, is joining a lineup of new tenants at the Sundial shopping plaza in downtown St. Pete.
Incanto, which sells a curated collection of Italian clothing, bags, shoes, and belts, will open in a space previously occupied by Happy Feet Plus on the first floor between White Black House Market and Jackie Z Style Co. at 153 2nd Avenue North.
The St. Pete boutique will be the second location for the retailer, which also has a store in downtown Sarasota.
Incanto hasn't announced an official grand opening date for the new St. Pete store.
Also coming soon to Sundial are medical diagnostic imaging company Prenuvo, anti-aging medspa company Serotonin, and Forbici Modern Italian, one of Tampa’s most heralded Italian restaurants.
The new tenant additions comes after a judge recently denied a request by the neighboring AMC movie theater to halt construction on the ongoing renovation of Sundial.
Currently, workers are installing new green turf at the courtyard, which will be reactivated as a communal green space with a large outdoor bar.
Boutique CBD retail store to open on Central
Trusted Wellness, a premier cannabis dispensary based in Sarasota, is expanding to St. Pete.
The family-owned company operated by husband-and-wife Eve and Yusuf Kadibhai will open a new storefront at 2323 Central Avenue selling cannabis products, shrooms, drinks, extracts, vapes, topicals and more.
“We are both from families of healers,” said Yusuf in an email to St. Pete Rising. “Deeply ingrained from our family ancestors is the belief that the earth provides us with everything we need to be healthy and nourished. Our commitment is to keep our products as close to nature as possible.”
A grand opening date has not been announced.
The store was previously the home of the Woodfield Fine Art Gallery, which showcased a collection of artworks from over 30 Tampa Bay area artists.
"Woodfield Fine Art Gallery has represented some of the area's most brilliant artists for the last nine years ...," the art gallery owners wrote in a Facebook post. "Unfortunately, the best of times can't last. We have decided to close effective immediately. Please continue to support the artists of this community who continue to produce amazing work."
The new dispensary will be next door to the recently opened Custom Candle Artworks shop, which makes personalized hand-crafted candles with illuminated artwork.
Custom Candle Artworks previously occupied space at The Factory in the Warehouse Arts District.
Savannah Bananas move Trop game to Tampa
The Savannah Bananas, an exhibition baseball team that combines athleticism, comedy, and entertainment akin to basketball’s Harlem Globetrotters, will now play in Tampa instead of St. Petersburg for their 2025 Banana Ball World Tour.
The group was scheduled to visit Tropicana Field for a two-night event on March 15th and 16th, however plans have changed following Hurricane Milton's destruction to Tropicana Field.
The 2025 Banana Ball World Tour will now be a one-night event taking place on March 15th at Raymond James Stadium.
For those unfamiliar, the Savannah Bananas are known for on-field antics, choreographed dances, and even stilt-walking players. Their brand of baseball, known as "Banana Ball", features a fast-paced format with unconventional rules.
It will be the first time the Bananas and their rivals, Party Animals, will play in an NFL stadium.
Tickets are expected to be in high demand. Those interested in attending can enter the ticket lottery.
Big Lots to close St. Pete stores
The Big Lots in St. Pete's Fossil Park and Tyrone neighborhoods are permanently closing.
The Ohio-based discount retail chain will close the stores at 1055 62nd Avenue North in the Rutland Plaza and at 950 58th Street North in Tyrone Gardens by early January.
Earlier this year, Big Lots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and announced the shuttering of more than 500 stores as it entered into a sale agreement with Nexus Capital to acquire the company's assets and ongoing business operations.
New York-based A&G Real Estate Partners is accepting bids for the latest auction of Big Lots leases as part of the retailer's Chapter 11 restructuring and sale process, according to CoStar.
The auction includes 51 new-to-market leases, in addition to 204 previously marketed leases.
Indian Rocks Beach restaurant permanently closes due to hurricane damage
SLYCE, a local pizzeria, will be closing its Indian Rocks Beach location.
This week, the owners announced in a Facebook post that they are permanently shuttering the pizzeria at 311 Gulf Boulevard where it served the community for 13 years.
The closure is due to significant damage from Hurricane Helene, which made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane in the Big Bend region in late September.
Although the Indian Rocks Beach restaurant will not reopen, the Madeira Beach location and SLYCE's newest outpost on St. Pete Beach will remain open.
