M&M Video Games, a retailer that has built a loyal following of competitive gamers and collectors since launching in 2012, has opened a new store in the EDGE District of downtown St. Pete.

The shop is located at 1211 1st Avenue North, in the same building as Zubrick Magic Theatre and 1st Avenue Liquors, and held its grand opening on Friday.

The St. Pete outpost is M&M Video Games’ fifth location, joining existing stores in Tampa, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, and Largo.

Store Manager Bradley Gilmore said the team is still stocking shelves inside the 2,475 square foot space, which will carry thousands of retro and current generation video games, consoles, and trading card games.

M&M Video Games operates on a buy, sell, and trade model, resulting in a constantly changing mix of used and new inventory.

Whether customers are looking for classic titles like Super Mario Bros., Zelda, and Madden, or more niche games, Gilmore said the store likely has something for them.

“About 95 percent of our video games are used,” he said. “But we also carry sealed and rare items that collectors are always hunting for.”

The store also sells retro consoles like Atari and NES, as well as current generation consoles including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and Series S.

The store’s stock of trading card games includes Magic The Gathering, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and One Piece.

Dungeons and Dragons books and a variety of board games are also available.

Several tables fill the middle of the store and are open for customers to play board games or card games at no cost. The store plans to host regular game nights and weekly tournaments.

“The card community in St. Petersburg is really strong,” Gilmore said. “There’s a lot of demand, and we wanted to be part of that. We want this to be a place where people can come in, grab a seat, and start playing.”

Beyond the store itself, M&M Video Games also hosts larger events across Florida, including the TCG Trade N Play Supercon, a traveling event where vendors and hundreds of gamers gather to buy, sell, trade, and compete in tournaments.

Earlier this month, M&M hosted a TCG event at the Coliseum in downtown St. Pete.

M&M Video Games is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., though Gilmore said hours may evolve based on customer demand.

The store is offering in store specials this weekend to celebrate its grand opening.
