Craft beer will pour once again inside the former home of The Brutalist Temple of Beer in St. Petersburg.

Richie and Jill Hamm, owners of the newly registered Freedom Brewing Co., purchased the 10,747-square-foot industrial property at 1776 11th Avenue North in a $2.3 million deal.

The new owners plan to open and operate a unique brewery concept that will utilize the entire interior and the outdoor patio, according to a press release from Bridgewater Commercial Real Estate.

The Hamms were not immediately available to comment about specific plans for the site.

The two-story building, located between the Historic Uptown and the North Kenwood neighborhoods, was formerly home to Flying Boat Brewing Company and The Brutalist Temple of Beer, which was owned and operated by Tampa’s King State Coffee Roasters.

Flying Boat Brewing Co. owner Glenn Zakany listed the property in 2023 for $2.7 million

In addition to the building purchase, the Hamms acquired the brewing equipment in a $300,000 asset sale.

The building, constructed in 1981, has a large brewing facility with walk-in coolers, a taproom with seating, a conference space on the second level, and a large outdoor patio.

“Ever since this listing hit the market, members of the surrounding neighborhoods have been hoping this location would open as another brewery. I am excited to see what the buyers do with the property, and I have no doubt that it will serve the community well,” said Davis Nunneley of Bridgewater Commercial Real Estate, who represented the seller.

Demetri Venetos of the Florida Business Exchange represented the buyers in the real estate transaction and handled the asset purchase.
