53-unit townhome community proposed for St. Pete’s Gateway area
/New townhomes could be coming soon to north St. Pete, according to recent documents filed with the city. PulteGroup, a national home builder, is proposing a 53-unit townhome community in the Gateway area.
Gateway is an area in Pinellas County that is located at the crossroads of St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Tampa. The central location has made the area an ideal place for several of the region’s top employers including Raymond James Financial, Home Shopping Network, Jabil, and Power Design, among others.
Pulte’s new community, named Shoreline, will be located on a 5.4-acre parcel off of 4th Street North on 112th Avenue Northeast. The company purchased the property in November 2020 for $1.5 million from WTIS AM Inc. which currently operates a radio broadcasting station on the site.
Pulte’s marketing site for Shoreline describes the project’s location as: “Ideally located in northern St. Petersburg, Shoreline is the best location for work & play. Minutes to Carillon Office Park, boasting St. Pete’s largest business employers & easy access to downtown Tampa, just 2 miles from I-275 by the Howard Franklin & Gandy bridges, Shoreline is a commuter’s dream.”
Shoreline will have two floorplans each with 1,879 square feet featuring three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a two-car garage. The community will be gated with eleven, two-story buildings and a man-made pond. Pricing for the homes is expected to begin in the low $300,000’s.
The project is set to go before the City’s Development Review Commission for a minor vacation of a 16-foot stormwater and ingress/egress easement on March 3, 2021. City staff has recommended approval of the request and the DRC is expected to approve.
Shoreline is among several new developments in the Gateway area including Waterview and Axio, two apartment communities which are currently under construction in the Carillon office park of St. Petersburg, FL.
Pulte declined to provide comment for this article citing the preliminary nature of the development.
