The former Kane’s Furniture store at 4601 34th Street North has been reborn as a Tesla Motors sales and service facility.
Truett Realty Group, a commercial real estate company owned by Delray Beach developer Rob Truett, who’s worked with the electric vehicle maker on several other projects, acquired the 4.2-acre site in April 2022 for $13 million, and Tesla proposed an extensive renovation of the property, which features a 102,000-square-foot building that Kane’s Furniture had used as a liquidation center.
Under the auspices of Elon Musk’s company, the site now houses a 3,000-square-foot vehicle showroom, 45,000-square-foot service center, 50,000-square-foot vehicle storage facility with 170 parking spaces, 8,000-square-foot parts department, and customer lounge.

The property is part of the 2,500-acre Lealman Community Redevelopment Area, which helped speed up the buildout of the Tesla Motors facility and allowed Truett Realty Group to gain approval for vehicle sales on the site, which otherwise wouldn’t have been allowed because of its industrial zoning.
“To the greater Tampa Bay area current and future Tesla enthusiasts and owners, we put our heart and soul into this project (as fellow Tesla enthusiasts ourselves!) and are confident that you’ll share in our love for this amazing facility to buy, service or accept delivery of your Tesla!” Truett said in a recent LinkedIn post.
While the property has a St. Pete address, it’s technically in an unincorporated part of Pinellas County that is also home to the 77,000-square-foot Lealman Exchange Community Center.

“The importance of this deal for Lealman cannot be understated,” Pinellas County Commissioner Charlie Justice said in a news release. “Tesla recognizes what we’ve been saying … Lealman is on the rise. And Lealman is ready to welcome you and your business too.”
As for Kane’s Furniture, its main showroom next door, at 4501 34th Street North, will continue to operate as usual, while the liquidation center will move into an adjacent building located behind the new-furniture showroom.
“We welcome Tesla to the neighborhood and are confident that they’ll be great corporate citizens and a major asset to Pinellas County,” Kane’s Furniture CEO Irwin Novack said in the release.
