Churned Ice Cream, the small-batch ice cream company known for serving handcrafted frozen treats out of a retro 1970s Volkswagen van, now has a permanent home in St. Pete.
The local favorite has quietly opened a production facility and grab-and-go storefront at 5504 Haines Road North in a space previously occupied by The Shop & Coffee House.
The 1,200-square-foot location houses Churned’s main production operations and a freezer-stocked retail section where customers can pick up pre-packaged goodies Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“This isn't your traditional ice cream shop where you can order at the counter and dine in,” said managing partner Steve Tishman in a conversation with St. Pete Rising. “But we do plan to add counter service with over 20 flavors later this year.”

Founded in 2021 by husband-and-wife duo Ray and Alyssa Wyatt, Churned has grown a devoted following with its decadent ice cream pints, ice cream sandwiches, cakes, and popsicles.
Churned offers 24 ice cream flavors, including brown sugar bourbon, strawberry cheesecake, cookie butter with Biscoff crumbs, caramel apple pie, and tiramisu made with Kahwa Coffee espresso.
They also have 23 popsicle flavors, such as cucumber watermelon, banana cream pie, starburst sunset, and an alcoholic option called cosmopolitan.
Tishman, who purchased the business earlier this year after meeting the Wyatts at a local event, leads Churned’s popular event catering, often using carts designed to resemble the iconic red VW van that originally helped build the brand’s visibility.
“The van was the owners’ personal vehicle, and they took it with them when they moved. So, we’ve had a trailer and two carts custom-made to match its look,” said Tishman, who is working alongside his wife, Lena, owner of Lena's Bridal Studio in St. Pete.

Churned’s products are also available at several local retailers including Paradise Grille in Pass-a-Grille, 3 Daughters Brewing in St. Pete, and Woof Gang Bakery in Clearwater.
Select partners even carry Churned’s "puppy cakes" made with pumpkin purée, peanut butter, and bacon bits.
Follow Churned Ice Cream on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates, and look for them this weekend at the Saturday Morning Market and St. Pete Pride Street Fair.
