Potbelly Sandwich Works to open first St. Pete shop on Fourth Street
The Midwest restaurant chain Potbelly Sandwich Works is bringing its toasty sandwiches and shakes to St. Petersburg.
Potbelly has started the interior buildout for its first St. Petersburg shop at 5004 4th Street North, a space previously occupied by Earl of Sandwich.
The new shop, which is expected to open on July 30th, will be the chain’s third location in Tampa Bay, joining existing locations on Dale Mabry in Tampa and at Tampa International Airport.
Potbelly serves warm and cold sandwiches, salads, soups, and a variety of sides. Cookies and milkshakes are available for dessert.
Its signature A Wreck sandwich is stacked with turkey breast, hickory smoked ham, Angus roast beef, salami, and Swiss cheese.
The menu also includes meatball, roast beef, ham, chicken salad, and tuna salad subs, as well as seasonal items.
The sandwiches start at $6.39; however, prices may vary by location.
Sandwiches can be ordered in three different sizes – Original, “skinny”, and “big”.
A “big” is approximately 1/3 more bread, meat, cheese and toppings than an Original. “Skinny” sandwiches are a lighter version of an Original, so you get 1/3 less bread, meat and cheese than the Originals.
Potbelly also offers salads like the Powerhouse Salad topped with grilled chicken breast, fresh-sliced avocado, hummus, a hard-boiled egg, cucumbers, and tomatoes served on a bed of field greens with non-fat vinaigrette.
Its lineup of shakes includes Oreo Cookie, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Vanilla. Potbelly is also known for its popular freshly-baked Oatmeal Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Brownie cookies.
Although this will be the first St. Pete shop, Tampa market is expected to have eight shops by the end of 2024 - totaling 14 locations in the Tampa market through a multi-unit deal with STA Management, according to a company announcement.
In addition to St. Pete, new shops are planned for New Tampa, Clearwater, and Largo.
“Florida as a whole holds immense promise for Potbelly, and we are strategically expanding in the Sunshine State to reach our potential,” Lynette McKee, senior vice president of franchising at Potbelly, said in a previous press release.
“With experienced franchise groups ready to showcase the Potbelly difference, I have no doubt that we will continue to grow our loyal customer base as we bring our brand to new regions across the state.”
