Vermont clothing boutique Harbour Thread to expand to St. Pete
/A men’s and women’s clothing and accessories shop that’s based in Burlington, Vermont, is coming to St. Petersburg in 2024.
Harbour Thread has leased a 2,447-square-foot space at 40 and 60 22nd Street South in a newly constructed retail strip in the Grand Central District. Erica Delgado of Vector Commercial Real Estate Services represented Harbour Thread in the lease transaction.
Construction began earlier this year on the new retail building located at the corner of Central Avenue and 22nd Street. Miami-based real estate investor Nick Molina purchased the former surface parking lot in December 2021.
Founded by Llyndara Harbour nearly two decades ago, Harbour Thread offers a huge range of clothing for men and women, footwear, jewelry, swimwear, blankets, towels, and even candles, greeting cards, and drinkware.
“Harbour Thread is known for carrying beautiful and unique pieces yet also providing timeless classics,” Harbour told St. Pete Rising. “That will remain the case for the Florida location.”
In May 2023, Harbour Thread introduced Revive, its first foray into the aroma market. Revive is available as a room and linen mist as well as a roll-on perfume oil and was developed in conjunction with Lunaroma, a female-owned, Burlington-based company.
According to Harbour Thread’s blog, “Intended to transform your mood to a place of replenishment and connectedness, Revive is a gender neutral scent that is warm, earthy, nourishing, and sensual with a touch of spice and citrus.”
In addition to stocking a wide variety of pieces by top brands and labels, Harbour Thread boasts its own line of clothing, mostly dresses and sweaters that range in price from $58 to $89. Its footwear selection runs the gamut from sandals and slippers to clogs, heels, loafers, and even cowboy boots.
“Harbour Thread has built its popularity by providing the best options in each price category,” Harbour said. “We create a retail environment that feels welcome to all. From cashmere and premium denim to affordable T-shirts, we truly strive to offer great selection at a good range of prices.”
According to Harbour, the St. Pete store’s selection will be curated to appeal to local customers.
“I love the laid-back ease of the Florida lifestyle; local fashion should mimic that,” she said. “Our Florida store will be full of flattering pieces that are comfortable and wearable.”
Harbour also confirmed that she plans to stock clothing and accessories made by local suppliers.
“I am a firm believer in partnering with community,” she said. “I love supporting local artisans and makers. We have already identified a few local companies that we intend to sell, but I hope to build that category over the years.”
Permanent jewelry is another Harbour Thread specialty. Permanent jewelry includes pieces such as chain-link bracelets, anklets, and necklaces that are custom-fitted and then welded, with no clasp, making them “permanent” additions to one’s body. Sterling silver options start at $54, 14K rose gold-filled options start at $64, 14K gold-filled options start at $64, and 14K yellow-gold options start at $148.
According to Harbour Thread’s website, a permanent jewelry fitting is “a great activity to do with friends, family, bridal parties, and more.”
Harbour said she chose St. Pete for Harbour Thread’s second location because of family ties to the area.
“We have deep roots in Tampa Bay,” she said. “My partner is a Florida native and his parents and grandparents were from the St. Pete area. We have had a St. Pete home for years and have a big community of family and friends here. I really think of this as opening a business in my other hometown. I am opening this store because I believe it will be an addition to the fantastic St. Pete stores that already exist.”
Harbour also confirmed that she’s making use of her roots in the area to organize a grand opening celebration for when the St. Pete Harbour Thread location gets up and running.
“I love throwing parties,” she said. “We already have plans to collaborate with one of our favorite Florida clothing companies to throw a fun opening event, complete with discounts, snacks, and beverages.”
