New renderings have been released for Volta Wine + Market, offering a first look at a new local wine shop, gourmet market, and intimate bar opening on the ground floor of The Residences at 400 Central later this year.
The approximately 2,000-square-foot concept is set to begin construction this month and will be among the first retail tenants at the 46-story condo tower, now nearing completion by New York–based Red Apple Group.
Founded by Michelin-recognized sommelier Zach Pace and partner Rachelle Tomushev, Volta is designed to feel like you’re being welcomed into someone’s home rather than stepping into a traditional wine shop.
The shop won’t contain a single TV in favor of vinyl records and analog hi-fi sound.
“The world’s best wine shops share a common trait: the feeling of being welcomed into someone’s home,” Pace said in a statement. “Whether you're a novice wine lover or a luxury collector, all are treated as honored guests.”

The retail section will carry more than 3,000 bottles across 300 different selections spanning everyday $15 bottles to rare and collectible vintages.
The focus will be on well-made wines from small producers across the United States and Europe, alongside a curated mix of pantry staples and specialty foods.
The market side of Volta will offer artisanal dairy, prepared foods, tinned fish, olive oils, condiments, and other boutique grocery items sourced locally and globally.
Volta’s six-seat bar and lounge will be situated at the back of the space offering by-the-glass selections, craft beer, sake, and low- and nonalcoholic options.
Guests will also be able to pull a bottle from the retail shelves and enjoy it on site for a $15 corkage fee.

“Volta’s north star is to transform your weekly errands into a joy,” Tomushev said. “It’s a place to discover quality products you can use daily, in addition to gifts and special occasions. We want guests to leave feeling inspired and restored.”
The space is also being designed to host events.
Pace and Tomushev envision educational wine experiences, curated pairings, and intimate social evenings shared over great wine and good conversation.
Volta is currently in its fundraising phase, offering investors the opportunity to become Founding Members.
Perks include access to exclusive events, discounts, priority bottle allocations, and sommelier concierge services.

“Zach and Rachelle's entrepreneurial spirit, experience, and the quality of their wine and market items are why we were so excited to announce Volta as our first tenant,” said John Catsimatidis Sr., CEO of Red Apple Group. “The residents of 400 Central and the entire St. Petersburg community will love it.”
In addition to Volta, Sarasota-based Michael Saunders & Company and PNC Bank will occupy a portion of 400 Central’s 60,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
Dynasty Financial Partners will take 45,000 square feet of Class A office space on the tower’s eighth floor.
