Voodoo Brewery opening brewpub in downtown St. Pete this spring

Voodoo Brewery will be located at 220 4th Street North in downtown St. Pete. The building was formerly occupied by Orange Blossom Catering

Pennsylvania-based Voodoo Brewery Co. will open a brewpub at 220 4th Street North in downtown St. Pete. The building was formerly home to Orange Blossom Catering. Buildout has already begun and a projected opening is slated for April 2022.

As St. Pete’s craft beer scene continues to grow, Voodoo Brewery Co. plans to bring an inviting beer experience that compliments the already thriving local brewing community.

The brewpub will include 15 to 20 taps dedicated to Voodoo beer in addition to a few local guest taps.

Florida Stout is one of Voodoo’s seasonal beers brewed with toasted coconut and Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans

Voodoo is known for their tropical West Coast IPA called Good Vibes and Voodoo Love Child, a Belgian-style Tripel aged on sour Michigan cherries, raspberries, and passion fruit.

There will also be seasonal selections available throughout the year such as a Florida Stout, which is an imperial sweet stout brewed with toasted coconut and Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans, and an American Blonde Ale brewed with apricots called Beach Gear.

You won’t find these Pennsylvania brews in any bars or bottle shops in Florida. If you want to try Voodoo beer, visiting the St. Pete brewpub will be your best bet. However, you might occasionally find a Voodoo beer at Total Wine.

For those not in the mood for a beer, the brewpub will also serve Voodoo hard seltzers, seltzer slushies, and ciders. A wine list and selections of mead will be available as well.

You’ll probably be hungry after a few cold ones, and Voodoo’s got you covered. A full food menu will include elevated bar food like beer pretzels with cheese, three different varieties of beer mussels, handmade pizzas, tacos, and beer mac and cheese. Many of the menu items include Voodoo beer in their recipes.

All the food will be prepared in-house and meat selections like brisket, chicken wings, pulled pork, and bison burgers will be cooked in a smoker. There is also potential for a brunch menu, but the initial focus will be on lunch and dinner.

Voodoo’s 6,000 square foot brewpub will be able to seat 299 people with an upstairs area that will be used as rentable event space for local homebrew clubs, birthday parties, bachelor parties, and more. Eventually, the upstairs will be outfitted with games such as pool tables and darts and be offered as overflow seating. Outdoor seating will also be available on the sidewalk outside the front of the building which will feature roll up garage doors.

“There are so many exciting opportunities for this space,” said Owner Jennifer Vickrey. “We are located right across from Williams Park where we can’t wait to explore brunch options with the community."

Voodoo Brewery will serve seltzer slushies made with their Project X88B88 ELXR hard seltzer.

Vickrey is starting a new career as Voodoo’s St. Pete franchisee owner. As a former corporate consultant, she wanted to bring her love of good food and even better beer to St. Pete. Voodoo was the perfect opportunity for her.

Voodoo’s full immersion into the community is one of the foundational aspects of the company that took it from a stand-alone brewery in Meadville, PA to a franchise model that is currently experiencing exponential growth.

Currently, Voodoo operates five brewpubs in Pennsylvania and one in Ohio. In addition to St. Pete,Voodoo brewpubs are also opening in Las Vegas and Denver.

Although the brewery was founded in 2005, significant growth started to ramp up in 2011 when brothers Matteo and Kurt Rachocki took control of the company. What started as a small brewery in Pennsylvania has now garnered a cult following. Their success has allowed them to build a production facility in PA where they brew all their beers.

Voodoo’s most popular beer is Good Vibes, a tropical West Coast IPA

Kurt is the Brew Master and isn’t afraid to experiment with unique flavors. “He doesn’t pigeon-hole himself into any taste or brand. He makes great West Coast IPAs, Belgians, and Sours, but he is always stretching the taste profiles,” added CEO of Voodoo Brewing Co. Matt Rachocki.

Buildout of the St. Pete brewpub will keep the old architecture style of the current building. Preserving and celebrating community is why Voodoo will hire locally, join local brew associations, attend community events, and connect to local nonprofits and charities.
