ARK Invest, a leading global investment firm known for its focus on disruptive innovation, will relocate its downtown St. Pete headquarters to the EDGE District.

Tampa-based Ellison Development announced Wednesday that ARK Invest, which is currently headquartered at 200 Central Avenue, will occupy 13,000 square feet on the 11th floor of Halcyon, a new office building expected to break ground later this year at 1301 Central Avenue.

Halcyon represents the first Class A office building constructed in downtown St. Pete since the 1980s.

The 11-story, 130,000-square-foot office building is one of the main components of The Central, a 2.1-acre mixed-use development that will also contain a 168-room Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, 14,000 square feet of retail space, a 42-unit affordable housing community, and a newly opened 540-space parking garage.

The Central is a joint venture between J Square Developers, DDA Development, Ellison Development, and Backstreets Capital.

The project was designed by Tim Clemmons of St. Pete-based Place Architecture.

“ARK’s decision to remain in St. Pete and scale its business from Halcyon signals to the world that our city is ready to compete on a global stage,” Casey Ellison, founder and CEO of Ellison Development, said in the announcement.

“The Central is designed as a launchpad for the future where companies, creators, and visionaries can do their best work. ARK’s presence at Halcyon elevates that vision and will inspire many others to follow.”

ARK Invest, led by founder and CEO Cathie Wood, is renowned for its investment strategies centered on innovation. ARK Invest moved its New York City headquarters to St. Pete in 2021 citing the city’s quality of life, growing tech scene, talent pool, and the city's focus on innovation as the main draws for the big move.

The 11th floor of Halcyon, serving as the building’s penthouse level, features a spacious wraparound terrace offering panoramic views of the downtown skyline.

Further details regarding the future of ARK Invest’s current headquarters at 200 Central will be shared in the coming months.

“Our future location at Halcyon will place us at the epicenter of a city we love and surround our employees with world-class amenities, a space designed to meet our needs, and the energy of downtown,” said Cathie Wood, Founder, CEO, and CIO of ARK Invest.

“The Edge District is dynamic, vibrant, and accessible. It’s where our team will thrive while creating a more connected and engaging experience for our clients and partners.”

The fourth floor of Halcyon will feature a sky bridge connecting the office building to the adjacent Marriott Autograph Collection hotel.

The sixth floor will provide direct access to a landscaped amenity deck atop the parking garage.

Office tenants at Halcyon will also have full access to the hotel’s amenities, including a theater, a state-of-the-art gym with cold plunges and saunas (also open to the public through memberships), meeting and conference rooms, co-working spaces, multiple event venues, and a flagship restaurant.

The Central team has tapped Cushman & Wakefield Executive Director Wendy Giffin to lead office leasing for Halcyon.
