French-inspired Cafe Clementine to open inside Museum of Fine Arts in downtown St. Pete

For many St. Pete residents, Le Clementine Bakeshop’s pastries are a welcome treat. After serving the downtown scene for well over a year at the Saturday Morning Market and Pete’s General, owners Paulina and Vince Gervasi are excited to announce a new cafe nestled inside the Museum of Fine Arts at 255 Beach Drive in downtown St. Pete.

Opening April 30th, Café Clementine is an artisanal bakery and casual eatery that will serve a variety of fresh handcrafted pastries, all-day brunch items, salads, and soups. The seasonally rotating menu will utilize organic and locally sourced ingredients from all over Tampa Bay.

Roots to Crown bringing ecstatic dance and more to St. Pete

Roots to Crown may be the place for you. Coming to 1741 1st Avenue North, this healing space, spearheaded by owner Tanner Roan, is bringing a different way to unwind to the St. Pete area–through ecstatic dance.

Although Roots to Crown currently hosts several events during the week, much more is coming soon with a grand opening slated for the summer solstice on June 20th.

A tiny home village and affordable townhomes proposed for South St. Pete

Since Ken Welch was sworn into office as the 54th Mayor of the City of St. Petersburg, there has been a noticeable uptick in the number of City-owned lots being considered for residential development. This should come as no surprise, as affordable housing has always been high on Mayor Welch’s list of issues to tackle.

“As you all know, increasing access to affordable and workforce housing was a top priority in my campaign, and it remains a top priority in my administration,” said Mayor Ken Welch in response to a comprehensive affordable housing study recently completed by a team of students from the Harvard Kennedy School.

10-unit townhome community to be built in St. Pete's Warehouse Arts District

A new townhome development is in the works for one of St. Pete’s growing downtown neighborhoods.

Canvas City Homes is a 10-unit community being developed by Tampa-based Sight Real Estate at 2700 5th Avenue South in St. Pete’s Warehouse Arts District.

"Sight Development is excited to launch Canvas City Homes St Pete, a 10-unit project inspired by neighboring warehouse buildings that have been converted to artist workshops and studios,” says Chase Moore, Director of Sales & Marketing at Sight.

Affordable housing community Delmar 745 opens in downtown St. Pete

Last week, excited families were given the keys to their new homes in a recently completed affordable apartment community located in downtown St. Pete.

Residents started moving into Delmar 745 on March 9th. The 12-story, 65-unit apartment community is located just five blocks from Central Avenue at 745 Delmar Terrace South.

“This project is a perfect example of affordable housing progress,” said St. Pete Mayor Ken Welch. “With units targeted toward working-class families and the formerly un-housed, this project truly provides opportunity to those who need it most.”

40-unit condominium Domus Urbana tops out in downtown St. Pete

Only five months after breaking ground, Domus Urbana has topped out. The new 40-unit mid-rise condominium is coming soon to 644 3rd Avenue South in Downtown St. Petersburg.

Domus Urbana is the latest development from NJR Companies, which developed the 20-unit Regent Lane Townhomes near Beach Drive in 2018.

The five-story building will feature four floors of residential space on top of ground floor vehicular parking, bike parking, lobby, and fitness center. The community will also include a dog park.

376-unit mixed-use development approved for Gandy Blvd in St. Pete

Last Week St. Pete’s Development Review Commission approved a redevelopment plan that will bring a 376-unit multifamily community along with a new marina and restaurant to a 39-acre parcel at 1200 Gandy Boulevard.

The property in being developed by Miami-based Key International. Key International’s real estate portfolio features a mix of residential, commercial, and hospitality properties scattered across the southeastern United States and southern Europe. In October 2021, the company sold a Residence Inn by Marriott and SpringHill Suites on Clearwater Beach.

Pasghetti to bring homemade spaghetti and meatballs to North St. Pete

Meatball lovers, rejoice! Pasghetti, a new fast-casual Italian-inspired restaurant, is making its way to St. Pete this spring with a focus on two key menu items – Spaghetti & Meatballs and Meatball Subs.

Moving into the former Green Light Sushi Bar location at 229 62nd Avenue North, Pasghetti aims to provide quality over quantity, offering a limited menu with a spotlight on the “most delicious meatballs and red sauce to come to St. Pete.” The menu will also include salads, gelato, and buttery garlic bread.

Owners Ken and Olivia Bell are bringing Pasghetti to St. Pete after relocating from Denver and New Orleans, following a cross-country road trip that led them to fall in love with southwest Florida. After more than 10 years of testing and perfecting the recipe for their original red sauce, the Bell’s felt it was time to share it with the world and better yet, bring it to St. Pete.

The world’s largest collection of artist sketchbooks is moving to St. Pete

After spending over a decade in Brooklyn, the world’s largest collection of artist sketchbooks is moving to St. Pete. The Sketchbook Project will be located inside The Factory, a new creative arts destination in St. Pete’s Warehouse Arts District, at 2622 Fairfield Avenue South, Building 8A.

“St. Pete is an amazing, fast growing creative community and we are excited to put some roots here,” said Steven Peterman, the founder of The Sketchbook Project. “We hope the community really supports us.”

The collection boasts an impressive 45,000 sketchbooks (and growing!) from over 100 different countries. The pages of these books are filled with rough sketches, paintings, portraits, and comics using mediums like graphite, charcoal, chalk, watercolor, and ink. They tell stories of love, comedy, guilt, tragedy, and politics.

Anyone can participate in the project by going to The Sketchbook Project’s website and ordering a book. After filling the pages with your creations, you’ll mail it back. And then it lives permanently in collection.

330-unit apartment development approved for 6th Street in south St. Pete

St. Pete’s Development Review Commission approved a 330-unit mixed-income residential development planned for 6th Street South, just east of Lake Maggiore.

The project was first announced in October 2021 and is being developed by Stoneweg US, a St. Pete-based investment firm specializing in multifamily acquisitions and developments. The group purchased the parcel, which was previously a mobile home park, in April 2021 for $6.4 million.

In rezoning the land from Corridor Commercial Traditional-1 (CCT-1) and Neighborhood Suburban Multifamily-1 (NSM-1) to Neighborhood Suburban Multifamily-2 (NSM-2), Stoneweg is now able to build 30 units per acre or 330 units total.
